Dunblane Fling Weekend AT A GLANCE
Thursday 25th May JAZZ NIGHT
at the Westlands Hotel, 7.30pm
The Dunblane Fling this year will fall over the weekend of 25th to 28th May.
Planning for this year’s Fling has been a bit more of a trial than usual – but what a diff erence a day makes! At our last meeting, I was wondering what I would be able to confi rm to you, but things are now falling into place.
The Jazz Night at The Westlands on Thursday 25 May will follow its usual pattern but Friday night will be a wee bit diff erent. Following the success of the disco in The Dunblane Centre last year, there will be 2 discos for the youth of Dunblane this year, one for P1-P4, the other for P5-P7. And to give Mums & Dads something to do that night, there will be a dance in the Victoria Hall. So if you’re a fan of 70s and 80s music, get your dancing shoes ready!
Fling by the River will follow its usual pattern too, but again with a few diff erences. Look out for a few ‘challenges’ on the Drying Green….but if you build up thirst, for the fi rst time you will be able to get more than a soft drink!
We’ll be having the tug of war again, and we have our fi rst team signed up – and they are not a pub team! So get your colleagues, friends, neighbours together for a tug of war team to join in the fun.
The best news is that this year’s concert will be headlined by Dougie MacLean. We’re sure a lot of people will want to hear him, so get Saturday 27 May in your diary.
To fi nish off the weekend, on Sunday, there will be the Dunblane Road Race, a concert by Dunblane Chamber Orchestra and the Festival Club at the Folk Club.
