Vestas has secured an order from Karpatenwind for six V126-3.45 MW wind turbines to be installed at Staryi Sambir in the Lviv region of western Ukraine. Vestas also received an order for a repowering project consisting of nine V117-3.45 MW turbines from Bürger-Windpark Lübke-Koog Nord in Germany.


TransWest approval The US Department of the Interior


has approved the TransWest Express Transmission Project – a 730-mile high-voltage, direct current electric transmission system being developed by TransWest Express connecting the Desert Southwest and Rocky Mountain regions.


China hydro boost A plan approved by China’s National Energy Commission will see the construction of 60 GW of hydroelectric power capacity in its southwest region.


Indonesia plants Wärtsilä and Persero have signed a contract to supply two 57 MW modular power plants to PT PLN. They will be responsible for the complete EPC project. The plants will be located in Jayapura and Kendari, Indonesia.


Wärtsilä CHP contract Wärtsilä will supply a 100 MW combined heat and power (CHP) plant to Kraftwerke Mainz-Wiesbaden in Germany. The power plant, consisting of ten Wärtsilä 34SG engines running on natural gas, is scheduled to be fully operational by the end of 2018.


Doosan wins Fadhili Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction signed a USD900 million contract with global energy supplier Engie for the construction of the Fadhili combined heat and power plant in Saudi Arabia. The facility will be owned by a Saudi Aramco subsidiary (30 percent), Saudi Electricity Company (30 percent) and an Engie affiliate (40 percent).

US wind projects Dong Energy is teaming up with New England, USA based Eversource Energy, which has acquired a 50 percent ownership interest in Bay State Wind project. The proposed offshore wind farm would be located south of Martha’s Vineyard and could be up to 2,000 MW in size; commissioning is expected in 2021.

Southern Power to develop and construct approximately 3,000MW of wind power across ten projects in the USA. All projects are expected to achieve

India coal plants Doosan will build two 1,320MW coal-fired power plants in India. The company will build the 2 x 660 MW Obra-C coal-fired plant in Sonebhadra and the 2 x 660 MW Jawaharpur coal-fired power plant in Etah. The Obra- C facility is expected to start commercial operations by October 2020 and the Jawaharpur plant by February 2021.
