Hansa Heavy Lift, taking over from Joerg Roehl who is moving back to Europe and taking an advisory role with the shipping company. Roehl was transferred to Singapore in March 2015 to manage the shipping company’s business in the APAC region, taking over from Jesper Traerup. Woo will continue to be

OBITUARIES


The new year brought the sad news that two of the industry’s leading lights have passed away.


Maurice Dawson AV Dawson owner and partner Maurice Dawson has died,


aged 75. He led the Middlesbrough, UK based logistics firm,


founded in 1938 by his parents, through a significant phase in its development. The former diesel fitter apprentice spent years as a long-


distance lorry driver before becoming joint managing director at AV Dawson alongside his mother, Eleanor, overseeing its successes for a number of years before eventually handing over the reins to his son, Gary Dawson. Maurice died peacefully at his home in Hutton Rudby, North Yorkshire, surrounded by his family.


Giorgio Bono Giorgio Bono, the founder of Italy’s Saving Group, has also passed away, aged 73, following a sudden heart attack. Giorgio had been involved in the project forwarding


industry since 1961, when he joined Foster Wheeler Italy. He established Saving srl in 1964 and saw it develop into one of Italy’s leading project forwarding companies. HLPFI sends its commiserations to the families and colleagues of Maurice and Giorgio.

Fuchs leaves Goldhofer


Stefan Fuchs is no longer chief executive of German trailer manufacturer Goldhofer and has left the company. Fuchs has been a member of the board at Goldhofer since 2000 and chief executive since 2003. In a statement, the


manufacturer said that Fuchs “has achieved a lot for the company” and Goldhofer is ”very grateful” to him. For the time being the company’s business will be handled by the


office in the country in 2012, after previously working for BBC Chartering, DHL Global Forwarding and DB Schenker. Roger Iliffe, Hansa chief


executive, said: “Henry has been the leader of our move into more complex Transport & Installation (T&I) projects in Asia and led our work with Bumi Armada and BioWave in the past years. “We would like to take this
