In Conversation With - Clare Henderson . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Love for travel

This month we chat to Clare Henderson who works in marketing at London-based Venus Concept, to find out more about her working and home life.

I ended up in the beauty industry because I’ve loved this industry since the young age of 12, always mixing masks in my kitchen as well as stealing my mum’s expensive face creams. I enrolled at beauty school and became an addict for education. I completed my advanced therapist license, instructor license and my Laser certification within five years. Education is everything!

The best thing about my job is working with therapists to help their business grow. No day is ever the same in my role - which is hectic and thrilling.

An average day for me starts by hitting the snooze button a few times. I sneak a kiss from my husband as we race off to London for work. I often check work emails, travel deals and catch up with family in the States on my train journey back and forth to the city. Once I am in the office my day varies from deploying email marketing, online training, social media management, clinic database management and lead generation for my sales team. I usually leave the office at 6pm to catch the train and enjoy a night of relaxing with the husband. Pre-pregnancy it was a glass of wine now its sparkling water and a movie.

If I wasn’t in the beauty industry I would be a travel writer. I love to travel and see new cultures, experience new worlds and meet new people. The idea of being in a new exotic location is really enticing at the moment.

My ideal weekend would be cooking and a bit of DIY. I love nothing more than cooking at home while listening to music in the kitchen.

When growing up my role model was Tina Fey - she is still my role model today. She’s funny, bright and doesn’t sell her body. To me, she is the epitome of a really strong and successful CEO.

My favourite book is anything by Deepak Chopra.

My favourite film is You’ve Got Mail - massive crush on Tom Hanks, he’s the classic man.

My beauty icon is Audrey Hepburn - a classic, graceful and stunning beauty.

My favourite beauty treatment is 100% pure Hyaluronic acid.

My top beauty tip is less is more! Look

into your ingredients and don’t stick to one brand for all of your products.

My guilty pleasure is Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

My strengths are being flexible - it’s a must in London.

You might not know that I grew up in Texas, riding horses and shooting guns.

I couldn’t live withoutmy pregnancy pillow.

The most famous person I have met is Bill Murray.

I’m at my happiest when I’m on a beach with sand inbetween my toes.

The motto I live by is, “When someone shows you who they are the first time, believe them” - Maya Angelou.

I would like to be remembered as kind, loving, fearless and daring!
