The Best of Bavaria


Day 1 Munich - Nuremberg In the morning we travel to Nurem- berg. Visit Nuremberg’s historic city center and learn more about its impressive history with a tour of well preserved castle, Gothic churches, romantic houses and peaceful squares.


Day 2 Nuremberg - Regens- burg - Passau After breakfast travel to Passau. Along the way we briefly visit Regensburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Passau, also known as the “Venice of Bavaria”, lies at the confluence of the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers. The town’s architec- ture reflects a unique style of Ita- lian artists. The Baroque cathedral houses the largest church organ in the world. Enjoy a pleasant boat tour to the confluence of the three rivers and then take a stroll along the city’s picturesque streets.


Day 3 Passau - Berchtes- gaden From Passau we continue to the Bavarian Alps. Berchtesgaden is a typical traditional Alpine village at the foot of Mount Watzmann. The region’s attractions include the salt mines, Königssee lake and Ober- salzberg with the Eagle’s Nest, once


the site of Hitler’s mountain retreat. After a visit to a local salt mine, you have the option of taking a boat tour on the Königssee or visiting the in- famous Eagle’s Nest (not included).


Day 4 Berchtesgaden - Füssen In the morning we depart for Füssen. The road winds its way through scenic sub-Alpine lands- cape. We pause at the Chiemsee, the lake that is locally known as “The Sea of Bavaria”. Ascend by cable car to Kampenwand (1.500 m) and stop for a delicious lunch at the restaurant Alm, which spe- cializes in traditional Alpine cui- sine (lunch not included). Continue past various other lovely traditional Bavarian villages, such as Bad Tölz and Oberammergau until we reach Füssen, at the foot of the Alps.


Day 5 Füssen - Neuschwan- stein - Munich In the morning we visit Neusch- wanstein Castle, the most famous castle in Germany, built by Ludwig II, the notorious “mad king“. On the way to Munich we visit the Andechs Abbey. Optional tour of the abbey’s brewery (only on Tues- days and Wednesdays, from June- September) . Arrival in Munich, the charming capital of Bavaria.


Day 6 Munich In the morning enjoy a city tour and visit famous attractions such as the elegant Marienplatz square, the bustling Viktualienmarkt with many local delicacies and the Hof- bräuhaus, a traditional Bavarian beer brewery.
