Jonathan Muirhead OBE who heads up a leather manufacturing group which was founded in 1758. The group has five companies: Andrew Muirhead and Son Ltd; Bridge of Weir Leather Ltd; WJ&W Lang Ltd; MCT Leather Limited and SGLD Technology Ltd. The business is the UK’s leading manufacturer of high-performance leather, supplying major brands across the car and aviation industry, including Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover, Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and Emirates. The business exports to more than 60 countries and has won four Queen’s Awards for Enterprise. “I’m absolutely delighted, honoured and very humble to be the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. I wish to thank the President and Directors of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce for bestowing this award on me following a career in the leather industry spanning 46 years. Although I appreciate this is an award for personal achievement, I should like to accept it on behalf of my many colleagues, whose efforts have made our company such as success. This means a lot to me personally.”
