Multi-million pound refurbishment for the five-star Cameron House

Scottish five-star resort Cameron House has revealed the results of a £3 million refurbishment in what it has announced is the first stage of a year-long multi-million pound renovation. This initial phase has focused on revamping the food and beverage offering along with the hotel’s other public spaces. Situated on the southern

banks of Loch Lomond, Cameron House boasts five dining options. At the heart of the hotel, Cameron Grill – Cameron House’s fine dining establishment – has been refreshed with new interiors. Light, fresh

neutral tones now help to create a welcoming space and make the most of its iconic views. While the creation of a new

cocktail bar and menu adds another level of glamour to the restaurant, the Great Scots Bar also now makes the most of the hotel’s location with additional tables and new seating overlooking the loch. Elsewhere, the public spaces – including the swimming pool and meeting rooms – have been upgraded most notably with four statement chandeliers giving the reception a brighter, lighter feel.

Astronaut Tim Peake touches down

Clyde Space was delighted to welcome Major Tim Peake to their HQ in Skypark, Glasgow recently. A group of schoolchildren from

Glasgow had the opportunity to meet the world-famous astronaut. The pupils, from Baljaffray Primary School and Bearsden Academy, took part in a question-and-answer session about his historic six- month stay on the International Space Station. Questions varied from his

choice of in-flight playlist to the living organisms on board the ISS. The event aimed to inspire, specifically children, to develop an

interest in science and technology. Tim was visiting Clyde Space as

part of a post-flight tour of the UK. During the Principia mission, which took him on about 3,000 orbits of the earth, he became the first UK astronaut to make a spacewalk. The British European Space

Agency astronaut spent just over six months on board the International Space Station after launching from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan last December – the same location from which Scotland’s first satellite, designed and built by Clyde Space in Glasgow, was launched in 2014.

New Smart Urban Mobility Show to run alongside All-Energy 2017

The inaugural Smart Urban Mobility Solutions (SUMS) exhibition and conference will be co-located with the UK’s largest renewable and low-carbon energy exhibition and conference – All-Energy 2017 (SECC, Glasgow: 10-11 May 2017). The event will focus on Glasgow’s pioneering work on smart cities and the city’s, and Scotland’s, long history of innovation in intelligent traffic control. SUMS 2017, which is supported

by Glasgow City Council, includes an exhibition and a two-day conference programme, and will focus on the growing demand for new and emerging smart mobility technologies within existing transportation

infrastructures – just one of the many challenges facing today’s cities. In this age of rapid change, intelligent strategies are required and efficient use and control of mobility solutions are of prime importance. The Transport System Catapult puts the estimated global market value at £900 billion by 2025. The new event is aimed at

representatives from cities, local/ regional/national governments and authorities as well as transport authorities, city and transport infrastructure contractors, decision- makers and advisors from private ventures, large utility groups, investors and technologists.
