be autobiographical. There’s lots of classic rock titles incorporated into the lyrics with great style. Crain takes the opportunity to burn up the fretboard on this one. “Amazing Wife” has an almost Celtic vibe providing the musical bed for a great love song for his wife. The album is just full of melodic, rocking tunes, from “Goodnight Jimmy” to “Traveling Light” to “Buzzards,” and another immediate favorite, “John Wayne Heart,” a great piece of story telling, with more of Billy’s amazing gui- tar work. Billy Crain is a man of many talents. All 12 of these songs were written by him ex- cept one, written by him and his wife. He also produced the entire affair. It’s another fine disc from a man who continues to promote love and peace and the Christian lifestyle, while playing lead guitar like a demon. Excel-

lent…. There’s a new album out by a band called Blackfoot called Southern Native. (Loud and Proud) Now, had this band been called anything other than Blackfoot, I may have given them a very nice review. The music is not bad. A bit hard for my tastes. But the point is Ricky Medlocke has assembled a group of young guys and is marketing them as Blackfoot. There’s only one problem – they aren’t Blackfoot. Blackfoot was Medlocke, Jakson Spires, Greg Walker and Charlie Har- grett. To me, it would be like assembling four young musicians from England and calling them The Beatles. I don’t get it, and I believe in my heart that they are watering down the legend and legacy of the real Blackfoot. There, I got that off of my chest. •
