enjoy a meal at a legendary place called Threadg- ills. It was formerly a bar that during the 1960’s acted as a regular stop for a young Janis Joplin, who honed her chops on the stage there. These days it is a restaurant that serves some of the best southern style food on the planet. (See review this issue) Billy took us to the airport, where we


began out journey that would find us arriving back home near midnight. It seemed like a whirl- wind trip, but we had a lot of happy memories for sure, and the beginnings of an EP that will soon be available, dubbed The Austin Sessions. The EP had been the main reason for our trip, but we had gotten much more out of it. Much more indeed. •

natic. I must admit they did pretty good. Of course the dual head bashings didn’t necessarily make the two of them instant fans of the show. Considering the fact that it was the most violent, heart-wrenching, totally upsetting episode in the show’s history, they didn’t exactly join the party during happy hour. I watched in horror, and fol- lowed up with The Talking Dead. I was good to go.


We had another day to kill, so we did a few


touristy things, starting with a walk in the park - Auditorium Shores by the river. It was the most beautiful day we could have asked for, and we walked and talked all the way down to the Stevie Ray Vaughan statue. I had seen photos of the statue, but I thought it was life-sized; it was actu- ally much bigger in person. Quite a monument to quite a musician. After the park, we dropped by the Law Of-


fice where Pam works, and Billy asked her to meet us for lunch. We would meet at Trudy’s North Star for some authentic Tex-Mex food. (see review this issue) I got ahold of some peppers that hit me the wrong way, and I found myself sick. I went back to the hotel while Joey went with Billy and company to a couple of clubs and had a few adult beverages. Tuesday I felt much better. We were to fly


home later that afternoon, but first we would
