eHEALTH & INNOVATION IN PHARMACY

As its name suggests, the eHealth & Innovation in Pharmacy Award’s principal aim is to reward innovation by using technology to promote quality, safety and effi ciency in healthcare within community pharmacy.


‘eHealth can benefi t citizens, patients, health and care professionals but also health organisations and public authorities. eHealth - when applied effectively - delivers more personalised ‘citizen-centric’ healthcare, which is more targeted, effective and effi cient and helps reduce errors, as well as the length of hospitalisation. It facilitates socio-economic inclusion and equality, quality of life and patient empowerment through greater transparency, access to services and information and the use of social media for health’… European Union eHealth Action Plan 2012-2020.


The judging panel will be looking for ways in which a project have proven to be both innovative and successful.


This Award identifi es individuals and teams working within community pharmacy in Scotland whose ideas or inventions have, or could lead to, improvement in the patient experience in all areas of care throughout their community.


WHO CAN ENTER?


• This category is open to all pharmacists and their teams working in either independent or chain pharmacies.


• All entries will be judged by an independent panel of experts.


JUDGES WILL BE LOOKING FOR: • Activities that may involve pioneering new models or systems


• The impact made by the healthcare team on patient safety, outcomes and care in general


• Measurable benefi ts of the initiative

PHARMACY BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT


ENTRY CAN BE BY NOMINATION OR BY PERSONAL APPLICATION This award category is open to all pharmacy businesses that are delivering commercial success and enhancing the health status of their local population.


This award helps to demonstrate how pharmacies can, through their core business activities, help achieve improved health care and conditions for both patients and colleagues.


The Pharmacy Business Development Award targets pharmacies looking to improve their local community by enhancing health promotion, supporting skills, training and employment; or creating a better working environment. It will honour those business owners who have taken their companies, teams and results to ‘the next level’ of success.


The winning business must be able to demonstrate outstanding leadership and vision and a successful performance against its objectives. Judges are looking for evidence of exceptional growth and/or increased trading profi t, success in fi nding new opportunities, new product/service development and/or new business development techniques.


GENERAL AWARDS CRITERIA: • Enthusiasm and commitment to the enhancement of community pharmacy in Scotland


• Exceptional quality above and beyond what is expected • An ability to overcome challenges in pursuit of goals • Evidence of how performance has been measured and benchmarked, in addition to evaluation of project’s success


JUDGES WILL BE LOOKING FOR: • What measurable impact has your initiative made on community pharmacy in the past year?


• Evidence of your business growth • Evidence of how have you reached out beyond the pharmacy. How you have supported community groups or engaged them • Evidence of staff involvement and training


WHO CAN ENTER?


This category is open to all pharmacists working in either independent or chain pharmacies. Previous Pharmacy Business Development Award entrants, including winners, are also welcome to submit an entry. All entries will be judged by an independent panel of experts.
