PHARMACIST OF THE FUTURE
The Pharmacist of the Future Award is open to all students in the 3rd or 4th year of their MPharm at either the University of Strathclyde or Robert Gordon University in Scotland.
Do you have what it takes to be named the Pharmacist of the Future? Perhaps you have made a signifi cant contribution to your university through engagement with local groups and organisations? Or have demonstrated the confi dence and capability to talk with schools and community forums about pharmacy services? Or become involved with wider health promotion?
If you, or a pharmacy student or trainee you know, deserves recognition for their remarkable and leading approach to pharmacy, then do not hesitate to apply or to nominate them for the Pharmacist of the Future Award.
JUDGES WILL BE LOOKING FOR:
• Demonstration of knowledge, enthusiasm, commitment and potential to make a real difference to the pharmacy profession on graduation;
• Commitment to and engagement with education • Involvement in promotion of the profession, either within established education or to other groups
• Demonstration of signifi cant commitment to citizenship while at University. This may be demonstrated by activities such as participation in staff/student liaison committees, launching an initiative which has benefi ted peers, or acting as a role model for others.

It is evident that pharmacy technicians, dispensing staff and assistants are playing an increasingly important supporting role as pharmacists are increasingly spending more time in patient consultations and engaging local stakeholders.
The shift in emphasis from dispensing to healthcare provision has meant that the wider pharmacy team has to pull together. As such, pharmacy technicians and associated team members capture the essence of this in everything that they do.
This Award will recognise the winner’s important contribution to the community or hospital pharmacy profession.
The winner’s achievements will be an inspiration to those pursuing innovative practice and to those striving to raise standards within pharmacy.
JUDGES WILL BE LOOKING FOR: • Those who can demonstrate promotion of their role and those who continue to champion excellence through forward thinking and innovation
• Evidence of long-term, consistent dedication and outstanding achievements that have led to the advancement of the profession of pharmacy and public health
• Evidence of a large variety of skills, attributes and accomplishments
• Evidence of an individual, who is strong in character, and who has demonstrated both cumulative professional accomplishments and the ability to properly represent and refl ect the pharmacy technician profession
• Evidence of an understanding of the goals of pharmacy, and signifi cantly contributing to how these goals may be achieved
