elcome to the July-August issue of Pulp, Paper & Logistics. As we head into the second half of the year it looks like that growth in both fibre-based packaging and
tissue products continues to remain strong. Confidence in this growth has enabled a number of mills to
invest in new equipment and further enhance both product quality and energy-saving measures. Production efficiency in mills is also a driving factor when analysing service and maintenance schedules and the best use of staff.
Many mills are now opting to bring in specialist external
service providers rather than tie up key personnel who are more accustomed to the day-to-day operation of the mill. External service providers often boast a wider wealth of knowledge and experience from their exposure to a range of mills, along with specific technical and process understanding that is less available to mill staff.
With both International Pulp & Paper Week Stockholm and
Zellcheming Frankfurt behind us, the next event scheduled is our annual visit to MIAC in Lucca Italy (from 12-14 October). More info at

We will be previewing MIAC in the September-October issue of PPL along with reviews of tissue machinery & equipment and associated technology, converting equipment and systems, and equipment for paper handling, cutting and sheeting.
