DAY 1 - DEPARTURE You arrive at the airport for your overnight direct flight to Johannesburg.

DAY 2 - ARRIVAL IN LIVINGSTONE After your morning arrival, you connect with a short flight to Livingstone in Zambia staying one night at the superior three-star Azani Victoria Falls Resort, located just a short walk from the falls. All rooms are air-conditioned and brightly decorated in an African theme, with a balcony or patio overlooking extensive gardens. The resort has a large pool, bar and restaurant. Alternatively, guests may use the excellent restaurant, bar and facilities of the adjacent five-star Royal Livingstone Hotel. After some time to relax and freshen up, you experience one of the highlights of your tour – a sunset cruise on board the African Queen on the mighty Zambezi River. As the boat slowly glides across the expanse of the river inhabited by hippos and crocodiles, you settle into a shaded wicker armchair, absorb the unique surroundings, sip a refreshing drink, become acquainted with your fellow travellers and reflect on how good life can be.

DAY 3 - VICTORIA FALLS This morning, you approach Victoria Falls for an amazing guided walking tour. Typically, the countryside of southern Africa is arid, biscuit- coloured ‘bush’ but around the Falls you experience a unique, lush rainforest eco-system, watered by fine spray rising from below. Then, after passing through several rainbows arching through the mist, the roar intensifies and anticipation mounts. As the chasm of the Zambezi gorge opens below, you will fully appreciate why Victoria Falls really is one of the world’s greatest natural wonders. For the ultimate panorama, you can take an optional ‘Flight of Angels’ helicopter tour. Please note during the dry season in Oct/Nov the flow of water is considerably reduced. During the afternoon, you drive west following the Zambezi until it joins the Chobe River at the Botswana border. Crossing in small open speedboats, you stay three nights on half-board at the four-star Chobe Safari Lodge (or Mowana Safari Lodge), beautifully overlooking the river. The tasteful rooms are well furnished in an African theme and river-facing, whilst the lodge itself, with its high- ceilinged thatch-roofed public areas, boasts a lovely pool overlooking the river and an open-air bar and restaurant.

DAY 4 - CHOBE SAFARI There is simply nothing to beat the feeling of excitement as you commence your game drive in the half light of an African dawn, accompanied by a unique ‘dawn chorus’. Using specially adapted 10-seater, open-sided safari vehicles you look out for big cats, giraffe and elephants. You’ll see a wide variety of game: impala, monkeys, warthogs, kudu, even leopards if you are lucky. The birdlife is also superb – the reserve teems with darting pied kingfishers, African skimmers, ibis, ground hornbills and brilliantly coloured bee-eaters. During the afternoon, you take a boat safari on the Chobe River, the main watercourse in the region. Hippo sightings are virtually guaranteed year-round and fish eagles and crocodiles are often spotted. The highlight is the many elephants that come to the shore for their daily drink – an awesome game viewing experience, unique in Africa. As the sun dips beyond the grassy plains on the horizon, you are treated to one of this continent’s greatest gifts: the amazing multi-hued spectacle that is an African sunset.

DAY 5 - FREE DAY A day at leisure at your Lodge. Either relax and enjoy the excellent facilities or take additional game drives

or river safaris. Alternatively, there are some optional trips available: a short excursion is to Namibia just across the river, or you may wish to try your hand at fishing for the fearsome Tigerfish.

DAY 6 - FLIGHT TO CAPE TOWN After breakfast, you cross back into Zambia and drive to Livingstone airport for the flight to Cape Town, via Johannesburg, and transfer to the four-star Southern Sun Waterfront Hotel for four nights with breakfast.

DAY 7 - CAPE OF GOOD HOPE This morning you drive to Cape Point, visiting the legendary Cape of Good Hope. You pass pristine beaches, the fishing harbour of Hout Bay and continue along the breathtakingly scenic Chapman’s Peak Drive, full of rugged seascapes and cliffs, to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. Here, you’ll see the confluence of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans and the treacherous promontory of rocks, the scourge of mariners for centuries. Finally, you visit Boulders Beach and its resident penguin colony before returning to the city in the afternoon.

DAY 8 - WINELANDS Today, you tour the beautiful Winelands. Set in a wide valley backed by majestic mountains, rows of manicured vines stretch into the distance studded by lime-washed, often thatched, 300 year-old wineries, built in the unique Cape Dutch style, sympathetically mirroring the undulations of the surrounding countryside. Later, you visit the small town of Franschoek in a magnificent setting at the head of a valley, then elegant Stellenbosch, established 300 years ago and home to South Africa’s most prestigious university. You have

time to explore this delightful town full of period houses and historic streets, before enjoying a fascinating cellar tour and tasting at the award- winning Neethlingshof Wine Estate.

DAY 9 - FREE DAY Cape Town, featuring British, Dutch and Cape Malay influences, is simply one of the world’s most naturally beautiful cities and today you are free to explore as you wish. In addition to the excellent shopping and dining available within the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront complex, no visit to Cape Town is complete without taking the revolving cable car to the summit of iconic Table Mountain. You should also visit Robben Island (weather permitting), where Nelson Mandela spent most of his 27 years’ incarceration. Tours are also available to charming nearby Hermanus, the world’s premier on-shore whale-watching location (Jul to Nov). Perhaps simply just wander where your feet take you, or relax a little, taking afternoon tea at the Mount Nelson, one of the great colonial hotels of the world.

DAY 10 - RETURN FLIGHT Your final day is at leisure, before a transfer to the airport at the appropriate time.

DAY 11 You arrive back in the UK after a truly unique tour.
