DAY 1 - ARRIVAL IN MOSCOW Fly to Moscow staying three nights at the centrally- located four-star Courtyard Marriott, within easy reach of Red Square.


DAY 2 - MOSCOW & RED SQUARE The sense of history here is overpowering as one great building after another, plus fascinating facts and stories, hold you spellbound on our guided tour. We see the 16th century Novodevichy Convent where Russian noblewomen would retire. We’ll also visit the riverside Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. Other highlights include the famous Bolshoi


Theatre Lubyanka Square the home of the KGB and the legendary Red Square, home to the GUM. None is more iconic than the 16th century St Basil’s Cathedral with its multi-coloured domes. This afternoon is at leisure.


DAY 3 - THE KREMLIN This morning you tour the 15th century Kremlin - the heart of Russian power, built by Ivan the Great with fortifications by Italian master stonemasons. You’ll learn about its fascinating history seeing three

Cathedrals, the royal residence Terem Palace, plus the Palace of the Congresses. Most memorable is the Great Kremlin Palace, a 700–room former Tsarist home with an entire room displaying jewellery and legendary Fabergé ‘eggs’. This afternoon perhaps visit the museum - Chief


Administration of Corrective Labour Camps and Colonies (better known as GULAG!), the Tretyakov State Gallery, Pushkin Museum plus much more.


DAY 4 - ST PETERSBURG Moscow is immensely proud of its Metro, perhaps Stalin’s one welcome legacy. This afternoon we leave Moscow taking the new Sapsan high–speed train to St Petersburg, staying three nights at the four-star Novotel, ideally located just off Nevsky Prospekt.


DAY 5 - ST PETERSBURG & THE HERMITAGE MUSEUM During our guided tour you will see the Alexander Nevsky Monastery, the golden dome of St Isaac’s Cathedral and the extraordinary towers of the Church of the Holy Blood. You visit boulevards like Nevsky Prospekt, the River Neva and Palace Square. Nearby is


the Peter and Paul fortress with the Cathedral holding the tombs of Peter the Great and the Romanovs. This afternoon we visit the Hermitage, the


immense building of the Tsar's Winter Palace, now displaying one of the world’s finest museum collections. The statistics are staggering – more than three million artefacts – European paintings alone occupy 120 rooms.


DAY 6 - PETERHOF This morning we explore Catherine the Great’s Peterhof with its amazing gardens, fountains and palaces. The lavishly decorated baroque Grand Palace is packed with fine art highlighted by the Throne Room. Outside, the beautiful 1,500 acres of landscaped parkland display bronze sculptures and summerhouses. The final spectacle is the incredible Grand Cascade of 176 fountains emitting a staggering 30,000 litres per second. This afternoon you are free to explore the city’s remarkable attractions.


DAY 7 - RETURN FLIGHT Today, at the appropriate time, you return to the airport for your return flight.
