Heart of the ‘fertile crescent’ with sights beyond wonder and so numerous you almost trip over them. Hugely atmospheric, with Jerusalem one of the world’s most evocative cities

DAY 1 - ARRIVAL IN TEL AVIV You fly to Tel Aviv and transfer to the four-star Grand Beach Hotel for one night, with dinner.

DAY 2 - CAESAREA & ACRE You visit the ancient city of Caesarea, built by King Herod as capital of Roman Judea. It was the biggest port in the Eastern Mediterranean, the site of one of Herod’s Palaces and it has a host of superb remains to explore. Next, you have the incredible, 12th century Crusader city of Acre. The beautifully vaulted Knights’ Halls are in a state of preservation probably unmatched in the world and display medieval European military architecture at its most magnificent. We then drive to Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee and the four-star Leonardo Plaza Hotel for one night, with dinner. Some tours will stay at the fascinating Kibbutz Lavi in the hills above Tiberias.

DAY 3 - SEA OF GALILEE & CAPERNAUM This morning you’ll be immersed in some of the most important events in Jesus’ early life. Crossing the Sea of Galilee, you arrive at Capernaum where Jesus lived, healed the sick and recruited his first five disciples. Nearby is Tabgha, the site of the miracle of

the feeding of the 5,000. Overlooking the whole area is the Mount of Beatitudes, where Jesus gave the Sermon on the Mount. A simple octagonal Church has been built, surrounded by beautiful gardens. We stop in Nazareth, where Jesus grew up and visit the great Church of the Annunciation. Our hotel tonight is the four-star Daniel on the shores of the Dead Sea.

DAY 4 - DEAD SEA & MASADA You can have one of life’s must-do experiences, ‘bob’ like a cork in the Dead Sea, surrounded by the haunting desert scenery. Then we visit the fortress of Masada – site of one of the greatest sieges of the Roman Empire. The desert climate has preserved the whole site so you can see the extensive Roman encampments surrounding the fortress – the only place where a complete Roman military campaign is so clearly visible. You continue to Jerusalem and the four-star

Leonardo Hotel or Grand Court Hotel for four nights.

DAY 5 - JERUSALEM You start with a visit to the Mount of Olives for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. After touring the Garden of Gethsemane, we enter the warren of

streets and alleyways that make up the Old City. You visit the Western Wall, then, following the route Jesus took on his way to crucifixion, you arrive at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, shared between the Catholic, Orthodox and Armenian Churches and built over Golgotha, where Jesus died.

DAY 6 - BETHLEHEM You drive to Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity. Returning to Jerusalem we visit the Yad Vashem, the impressive Holocaust memorial and the Shrine of the Book where the Dead Sea scrolls are displayed.

DAY 7 - FREE DAY Our final day in Jerusalem is at leisure to allow for a more detailed exploration of the numerous sights in and around the Old City.

DAY 8 - RETURN FLIGHT You transfer to Tel Aviv airport for the flight home after a truly remarkable tour.

NB: visits to certain sites, such as Bethlehem, may be dependent on the prevailing security situation in the region.
