activities or making new friends. The many clubs and organisations in the Malling Action Partnership area cater for a wide range of interests and offer a warm welcome to newcomers, so why not give them a try? Details of regular meetings are listed on this page.

Wednesday May 25 Larkfield Women's Club meets on Wednesday evenings from 8pm to 10pm at Church Farm Hall, New Hythe Lane, Larkfield. Come along and join this friendly group of ladies whose ages range from late 20s to over 60s. Great evenings planned, new skills and crafts to be learned, nights out and meeting new friends. Annual plant sale at The Church of St. John the Baptist, Wateringbury from 10am to 4pm.


Beautiful top quality plants to fill your garden with colour – bedding plants, perennials, herbs, vegetables and small shrubs. It is an ideal occasion to purchase plants for your flower beds, pots and vegetable gardens, whilst at the same time raising much needed money for the church.


Sunday June 5 West Malling Early Summer Open Garden for National Gardens Scheme


Enjoy four lovely gardens that are entirely different from each other and cannot be seen from the road. Brome House has colour themed herbaceous borders, Went House is a Queen Anne house surrounded by a secret garden with a stream, old roses, mixed borders and attractive


large kitchen garden, Town Hill Cottage is a part walled garden with mature and interesting planting and New Barns Cottages have serpentine paths leading through woodland to roomed gardens. Saturday June 11 Spadework Summer Fair and Offham Farmers’ Market, 11am to 5pm.


Lots of local producers selling Kent food and crafts. Free parking including plenty of disabled spaces. Discover an excellent range of local, high quality food stalls including fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, meat, fish, sweets, cakes, drinks, preserves and chilli sauces, pastries and vegan, vegetarian and meat-based, hand-made snacks and ready meals.


Sunday June 12 Royal birthday


The Malling Society invites members, friends and family to a garden party to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday. The Maidstone Singers Summer Concert at St Mary’s Church, West Malling at 7.30 pm. Soloists Stephanie Crooks (alto), Diane Sergeant (soprano), David Clarke (tenor). The programme chosen by the Maidstone Singers for their summer concerts this year embraces major sacred works by two of Britain’s leading living composers. The choir will first sing Bob Chilcott's Requiem and this will be followed by Sir Karl Jenkins’ Stabat Mater. Sunday June 26

East Malling Singers rehearse on Wednesday evenings, 8pm to 10pm, at St James the Great Church, East Malling.


Kings Hill Rotary meets every Monday at 7.30pm at the Spitfire Pub.


Chip Productions Drama Group meets Fridays at 7.30pm at West Malling Village Hall.


Malling Photographic Society meets every Tuesday at West Malling Village Hall at 8pm.


The Heath Players meet at the East Malling Institute, Mill Street, at 8pm on Fridays.


Malling Rotary meets Tuesdays at 6.30pm at Spadework, Teston Road, Offham.


Malling Art Society meets every Thursday at Offham Village Hall, 8pm to 10pm.


Malling Community Choir meets every Tuesday at West Malling Baptist Church, 7.15pm to 8.45pm. £2 per adult, children free.


East Malling Women’s Institute meets at the East Malling Institute behind the King and Queen pub on the third Monday of every month, 7.45pm to 9.45pm.


Malling Stamp Club meets on the second Tuesday of every month at the Clout Institute, West Malling High Street, at 7.30pm.


Spadework Farmers’ Market is on the second Saturday of the month from 10am to 1pm at Spadework, Teston Road. For more details, see www.spadework.net.


LeyARA meets on the second Thursday of the month at 2pm at the Leybourne Village Hall. Speaker, raffle and refreshments.


Craft and chat group Drop-in. Wednesdays, 10am to noon, East Malling Centre, East Malling.


Addington Bridge Club meets every Tuesday from 7pm in the sports pavilion, Park Road.


Malling District U3A Monthly meetings are held at Ryarsh Village Hall, starting at 2pm, on the fourth Tuesday of the month throughout the year.


Baby and toddler group meets every Wednesday at St James the Great, East Malling. Lots of fun for all children and babies. Starts at 1.30pm.


Mereworth church children’s choir meets every Wednesday. The children’s choir is a free after- school group which rehearses at 6.30pm. Parents welcome. Conductor: Stephen Thomas, 01732 321114. Y1 and up – no need to pre-book.


Every Sunday The Manor Park, West Malling, Junior ParkRun starts at 9am with a series of 2k runs for children aged four to14.


Every Saturday


Leybourne Lakes Country Park, Larkfield. Adult 5k runs are held every week, starting at 9am. The runs are free of charge all you need to do is register your details at: www.parkrun.org.uk/register
