Going gluten free doesn’t mean going taste-free

G

luten has been suffering from bad press which is surprising as we’ve been consuming it in

some form for around 10,000 years. The trouble is gluten isn’t just found in your daily loaf. It crops up time and again in everyday foods and is even present in many of our favourite puddings, desserts and sweet treats, making it harder for consumers looking for a grab-and-go treat to enjoy on the move. However, there are innovative brands out there that have risen to the challenge of creating delicious tasting products that still

tick the free from box. Flower & White, the award winning business behind gourmet sweet treats - Merangz, Tweeners and Custardz has recently launched its latest range gluten free goodies and continues to prove that free from can be as innovative and great tasting as

other products on the market. “Our new gluten free muffins have gooey centres in three mouth-watering flavours for retail - White Chocolate & Raspberry, Salted Caramel and Triple Chocolate. There’s nothing else on the market quite like them. We firmly believe that just because you follow a gluten free diet, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a delicious indulgence,” says co-founder, Leanne Crowther. For many people following a gluten

free diet, finding a scrumptious treat to eat in cafes or on the go can be tricky but Flower & White are happy to lead the charge by offering consumers a point of difference: gluten free and great tasting. “Retailers looking to stand out from their competitors would do well to broaden their gluten free lines. The sweet treats and desserts market still needs fresh innovation,

particularly for those wanting to maintain this type of lifestyle, for health reasons or otherwise. They should still have as wide a choice as everyone else,” explains Leanne. She also notes the importance of understanding that gluten free foods are more than just a trendy fad, and those wanting to expand into the GF arena should understand the importance of the manufacturing process. “At Flower & White, we’ve worked hard to develop our range and ensure that those who are Coeliac or gluten-sensitive can enjoy a treat safe in the knowledge that they won’t be eating cross- contaminated foods. We package our muffins individually so our customers know that when we say gluten free, we mean it!” l
