Join ABCC for dinner A

sian Business Chamber of Commerce is giving its members an exclusive invitation to book tickets for the

organisation’s annual dinner and awards on 19 November at the ICC. Due to the increasing popularity of the event,

which is selling out months in advance, members are being first option to book tickets. ABCC president Saqib Bhatti (pictured) said

that the 2015 awards and dinner had sold out three months ahead of the event, and last year’s tickets had all gone before September. “Last year’s event sold out even before we had

announced any of our key speakers. This just shows how popular the annual dinner and awards is, and how it has established itself as one of the key events of Birmingham’s business calendar. “So, to make sure our members get every opportunity to buy tickets, we are allowing them to have priority booking until 8 April. After this date, the tickets will go on general sale.”

Sponsorship opportunities are available. For further information, contact Anjum Khan: a.khan@asianbusiness-chamber.com

Packages available

Individual tickets: £80 + VAT Standard table of ten: £800 + VAT Platinum table of ten: £1,200 + VAT (sold out)

The Standard ticket price includes a

reception drink, three-course meal and tea or coffee. The Platinum packages are sold out and only a limited number of tables of ten are available so early booking is advised.

A new way for SMEs to secure a company loan

A former corporate banker has launched his own Birmingham-based loans company to help bridge the funding gap for SMEs. Muazzam Ikram Ullah (pictured) is the brains

behind Acumen Loans, which targets small to medium-sized businesses as well as providing personal loans and bridging loans for the property market. Pakistan-born Muazzam, a former corporate

banker in Abu Dhabi, launched the franchise business six months ago and is targeting the Birmingham and Coventry area. “High Street bank lending still tends to be

very selective – it is a case of pick and choose. I wanted to start my own business – it is a tough market out there and I am still in the initial stages but I am very hopeful. “Alternative funding lines will of course never

replace the High Street lenders but, with restrictive credit policies in place from all the major banks we are now seeing rapid growth and transformation of the alternative funding sector of the market.” Muazzam said Acumen Loans, which is part of

the long-established White Rose Finance Group, covered every aspect of business finance.
