FEATURE: EXECUTIVE SEARCH & RECRUITMENT
‘All this activity has created this War for Talent in the Midlands’
course Jaguar Land Rover continues to recruit to feed its investment in its Solihull site. On top of that, the Birmingham tech scene continues
to flourish with an ever-growing list of start-ups being born across the city. A lot of Birmingham’s old industrial units are being cleaned up, injected with bright paint, natural light, a solid internet connection and the obligatory hot desks to house some of the most potentially disruptive tech businesses in the UK. There are now more than a handful of proven tech incubators to found here with no shortage of successful tech entrepreneurs to help guide and mentor. All this activity has created this War for Talent in the
Midlands and the battle to attract people with tech skills is even more important. It is important that companies identify new channels to secure the skills they need for their business, today and in the future. People buy expertise so any search and recruitment
firm should very quickly become a trusted partner, rather than just another transactional provider. They quickly need to understand your business, what your business is trying to achieve, what the culture of the business is, how this new talent will add value and what personality traits these new recruits need to have to be successful. I truly believe that if companies take the time to
build a trusted relationship with a Search & Recruitment firm, then that firm can help grow that client’s business through the quality of the people successfully introduced and placed with it. Having the industry knowledge and the developed
network to approach ‘passive’ candidates (those not actively searching for a new role) increases your access to a much wider pool of talent. Very often, those who provide a best fit for the role aren’t the ones looking for a job. This is where a search and recruitment company like Robert Walters can add the most value. The War for Talent has begun. Businesses need to think about who they join forces with in order to win.
