Besides performing as a solo act he spent several years in the duo “Insignia”. Coincidentally, both Duncan and Elvar began their musical careers as drummers, before moving onto other instruments. Both Elvar and Duncan were original members of “Soul Power”, the Tamla & Motown and Soul Band.

Hi All! With the ever growing interest in “live” music in the area, and new musicians frequently arriving to settle on the Costa Blanca, I decided to feature a recently formed group this month. “No Limit” is a 3 piece combo of seasoned performers who, despite only starting playing gigs at the New Year, are already well on their way to establishing themselves here on the local music circuit. This affable trio consists of Brenda Albon as the lead vocalist, Elvar Masson on keyboards, and Duncan Phillips on the bass guitar, and also singing. Brenda hails from Morecombe in Lancashire, and although she only moved to Spain just over a year ago, holidayed in the Torrevieja area for many years. Brenda is a very versatile vocalist, who served her “apprenticeship” during the 80s and 90s, performing cabaret in the Northern Club Circuit of Lancashire and surrounding area. She is able to cover most genres of music from over the decades with impressive ease. Elvar, originally from Iceland, is a veritable maestro of the keyboard. He spent his childhood locally in Benidorm, where his parents ran an Icelandic restaurant, and has recently returned after spells on the Orihuela Costa and back in Iceland. Duncan moved to Spain in November 2000, from Inverness in the Scottish Highlands. Prior to playing bass guitar with “No Limit”, he has been working in the area and is better known as a keyboard playing vocalist.

“No Limit” play an extensive range of music, covering many of the songs that most of us grew up with. With their varied repertoire they are ideally placed to provide music for dinner dances, restaurants, private functions, golf and bowling club events and more. If you haven’t already heard “No Limit” performing then do keep an eye on the local press for details of future gigs. Or alternatively have a look at their Facebook site:- No Limit.

I am convinced that we are going to hear and see a lot more of this group in the near future.

Bye for now, D.P.
