with the emphasis on “old”. Worn out, past it politicians are conducting the debate as if it were a British general election. Well chaps, as the debate is almost exclusively male… it's not about your worn-out political objectives… Europe in the future is about the youth of today… a social cohesive stable environment for the future generations to grow and to forge a peaceful economic future for themselves and their future families. Ask yourself why it is that the very people who will be most affected by the result of the vote are being denied a vote? The age to vote should be given to those 16 years and above. Young people should have the right to vote on what is essentially their future.
On My Travels. In Victorian times the well-to-do used to go off on a “Grand Tour” as a way of furthering their knowledge of other 'peoples' and indeed other countries. Well Dear Reader, it’s that time again for me… I am about to set off on a grand tour… not to the poetic cities of the World like Rome or Florence… nor am I going to indulge in the grand and ancient architecture of Egypt or Jordan. Not for me a pint in the Raqqa social club or a walking tour through the hinterland of Afghanistan to visit the Taliban… No for me it’s a trip back to Blighty to visit the grand-kids and to catch up with some soulmates from my past. It’s Alicante to Manchester for the first leg of my tour… previously I have only ever been to Manchester for work related visits and I always thought the best part of travelling from London to the outer cities of Britain was the opportunity to use my executive status to sample the Kippers for breakfast on British rail. Anyway I have a week or so in Manchester to cuddle the grand- kids and to see how the other half live. My eldest son tells me that I will be enraptured by the shops in Stockport (really?) and charmed by the gentle folk of Didsbury. Yes I know, but he would say that, would he not? Departing from Manchester… I fly down to Southampton and journey onto the beauty that is my former home of Hayling Island. Peace and serenity for a few days and probably several pints of proper English beer…
London Pride, oh joy. Onward ever onward the last leg of my tour will see me on the train to Brighton to visit the daughter… just in time for her birthday and hopefully a night out in Donatello’s Restaurant. Brighton to Gatwick and onward to Alicante and home. Am I looking forward to my journey? Yes and no. I do enjoy visiting, but once away I always want to come back home. Will my wallet suffer? You bet it will! Diary thoughts in the March QF Focus.
A Mother's Day Joke For You
A psychiatrist was conducting a group therapy session with three young mothers and their small children. "You all have obsessions," he observed. To the first mother he said, "You are obsessed with eating. You've even named your daughter Candy." He turned to the second mum. "Your obsession is money. Again, it manifests itself in your child's name, Penny." At this point, the third mother got up, took her little boy by the hand and whispered, "Come on, Dick, let's go."
