JONATHAN DOUGHERTY
BDS, MJDF RCS Eng, MFDS RCS Glasg, MFDS RCS Edin GDC: 191136
Jonathan qualified from Glasgow University in 2010 and since then has endeavoured to constantly develop his clinical and communication skills to ensure that he can provide his patients with the best possible care.
Jonathan has undertaken the MJDF with the Royal College of Surgeons of England as well as the MFDS at both Glasgow and Edinburgh. He is currently undertaking a Restorative Diploma with the Royal College of Surgeons England.
Earlier this year he took over a position in Kilmarnock Dental Care and also within Philip Friel advanced dentistry where he works within a multi-disciplinary team providing general restorative dentistry. In the near future, Jonathan hopes to pursue a master’s degree in restorative dentistry with a view to developing his implant restorative knowledge, with the eventual long-term aim of undertaking an implant diploma once he has a sound foundation in the restoration of implants.
LORNA HARLEY
BDS, MFDS RCS Edin, MRD (Endo) RCS Edin GDC: 79246
Dr Harley is a specialist provider of endodontic treatment in Fife. She graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2001 and worked in general dental practice and then the community dental service before embarking on her specialist training in 2005 at the highly regarded endodontic department of the University of Dundee.
She gained entry onto the specialist list for endodontics in 2010 and is a member of the British Endodontic Society.
Dr Harley joined Balbirnie Oral Care in January 2014. Balbirnie Oral Care is a specialist and advanced treatment referral centre located in central Fife.
Lorna is a committed specialist endodontist who endeavours to provide a professional and quality endodontic service for referred patients in a relaxed, warm and friendly environment. She is proficient in modern techniques and uses a dental operating microscope for all treatments.
JULIE SAVIN LIZ ALEXANDER
Liz Alexander started her career in dentistry 17 years ago. After many years of working with victims of domestic violence, she decided to help her husband take on the challenge of a brand new, start-up dental practice. Tat practice went from strength to strength, becoming fully private within five years of opening its doors.
Liz continued on reception (where she is most at home) until 2007 and she took over another local practice from a retiring dentist eight years ago. In her capacity as practice manager/owner, she has grown the practice massively.
Southwest Smile in Stranraer is now a very popular practice locally, has the community and customers at heart and is fortunate to have a very pro-active team. It is a proud winner of Practice of the Year in 2014 and Liz was named Business Manager/Administrator of the Year in 2015 at the Scottish Dental Awards.
Photography is high on her list of hobbies which also include a love of music, both playing and listening.

Julie qualified from Dundee Dental School in 1990 and soon found her passion for oral surgery. She subsequently joined several oral and maxillo-facial teams in the east of Scotland. In 1996, she returned to study medicine in Glasgow.
She expanded her knowledge and skills in a wide surgical field during a three-year surgical training rotation culminating in attaining the Membership of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2006.
Julie is clinical director of Balbirnie Oral Care, established in 2012, and situated centrally in Fife. Tis is a dedicated referral practice offering oral surgery, intravenous sedation, minor cutaneous procedures and implantology. Te practice has expanded to provide specialist endodontics.
She also works in Dundee Dental Hospital, teaching surgical skills to final years and newly-qualified staff.
