Since 1987, Winnipeg Harvest has collected a total of 3,611,315 pounds of fruits and vegetables through the Grow-A-Row program for the Winnipeg community.
Over the past 19 years, Winnipeg Airports Authority has donated approximately 40,000 pounds of produce to the Grow-A-Row program.
year, Winnipeg Airports Authority issued a challenge to local businesses to plant an extra row as part of the Grow- A-Row program. Eight businesses met the challenge: Manitoba Trucking Association, Graham Construction, 7-Eleven (airport location), Hilton Winnipeg Airport Suites, Red River College – Notre Dame Campus, MLA Deanne Crothers, St. James Constituency Office and the Courtyard Marriott. “Te extra produce that Winnipeg Airports Author-
ity has produced over the past 19 years and donated to Winnipeg Harvest’s Grow-A-Row program has meant so much to thousands of Manitoba families in need,” says Winnipeg Harvest board member, Gordon Pollard. “Winnipeg Airports Authority is a model for corporate responsibility in giving back to the community. We turn to our roots in tough times. We appreciate their contin- ued support and green thumb efforts.”
You can do it, too!
Winnipeg Airports Authority, Pegasus Publications Inc. and Winnipeg Harvest encourage everyone with extra produce or extra space to grow an extra row of produce for families in need in our own community. Invite neigh- bours and friends to join you for a little friendly competi- tion. Donations can be made to Winnipeg Harvest, 1085 Winni- peg Avenue. For more information call Volunteer Services at 204.982.3663 ext. 661 or visit
winnipegharvest.org. All produce is welcome. Root crops are best for storage.
