Visitors need not fret about finding something to do in
Flin Flon. History lovers can catch a glimpse of artifacts from the town’s early days at the Heritage Museum; view hundreds of indigenous waterfowl at the Hapnot Lake Wildlife Sanctuary located near downtown, tour Te Stack, one of the tallest freestanding structures on the Prairies, or find out about the Hundred Stairs staircase. Tere are plenty of opportunities for shoppers to get their
fill here, too. Unique, handmade souvenirs and art are aplen- ty – from moccasins to mukluks, paintings and pottery, to tufting and quilting, there is no shortage of handicraft arti- sans. One particularly interesting art form practiced by Cree women is birchbark biting, and several renowned artists that practice this ancient art reside in Flin Flon. A design is vi- sualized and then created using teeth to perforate pliable folded bark resulting in one of the most stunning works of art you will ever see. the area, offering sublime beaches and even finer fishing. Walleye, northern pike, lake trout, rainbow trout, perch, whitefish and burbot (fresh water cod) are plentiful, and the Catch and Release program ensures there will always be enough trophy fish in the waters for everyone. Te first weekend in June kicks off a month long fishing tournament which wraps up with the July 1 Trout Festival.
