TARGETED CPD was very effective and the impact on students measurable. However it relies on volunteers to participate and is high in costs in terms of 1:1 staff ratios. Satisfaction with the process was high and it provided a ‘quick win’ for all those involved. A ‘whole organisation approach’ based on a peer coaching, community of practice would be interesting for future investigation.

Staff can access their CPD records and discuss their development plans with their managers, but more guidance and communities of practice such as learning groups, could give more ownership and involvement in the process.
