The second area for investigation was how better feedback could be obtained after CPD events and if better reflection and impact measures

could be evaluated by the participants. Currently at Lowestoft College staff either print and bring an evaluation form with them to the session or email it to the CPD team afterwards. This is then supposed to be followed up by the member of staff three months later. New approaches were tried involving a simpler, paper- based form at the end of the CPD session and a personal email request for feedback.

4. Targeted Continuous Professional Development

Sometimes staff do not become involved in CPD because they do not feel it is relevant to them or because they have ‘done it’ before. So a bespoke approach for individuals was trialled to see if this could increase participation and give them ownership of the process.

TARGETED CPD is a framework for CPD for volunteers who would like support to improve their teaching and stretch/challenge themselves from good to outstanding. Teachers take part in a process and do not just become a ‘product’, where something is done ‘to someone’, but people are involved in the procedure itself. Initially this may be a peer or teacher mentor or respected colleague.
