ll For those not familiar, Sportshall Athletics is a fun take on athletic competition and allows young people to take part in modified versions of track and field events. The indoor activities gives pro- spective track and field he- roes the chance to sample athletics as part of a team. The team from St Kenneth's,

comprising 28 pupils, compe- ted in 24 events which inclu- ded obstacle relays, a variety of different sprint relay races, and six different field events. Coach Richard Wyatt said, "I am absolutely thrilled to lift this title for St. Kenneth’s. I would like to thank all the staff and parents who have given the team such terrific support. However, it is our pupils who are the real winners. They ha- ve dazzled me with their talent and with their commitment, positive attitude and real team spirit they thoroughly deserved to be crowned as champions.” “I’m very happy that we

won the west of Scotland ti- tle.” Said Girls’ Captain Sophia Guidi, “It was very tight as we only won by 10 points. It was a great opportunity to represent our county.” There was everything to play for as eight teams from schools across the West of Scotland all competed for glory, with St. Kenneth’s taking the top prize by 10 points from second pla- ced school Newington Primary of Dumfries and Galloway.

Local Side’s Chairman “Feels Milan” With Team Tattoo

CUP WINNING Promise Comes to Fruition- Permanently

llThe boys from EK Milan are famous on social media for their cheeky personaliti- es and support from celebri- ties all across the world but chairman and co-founder Gary Henderson has gone a step further to make sure he really feels Milan.

In October he promised his club-mates that he wo- uld get an EK Milan tattoo if they brought home the GDSFC League Cup. The team promptly delivered and left their chairman to his fate. During a weekend break

try Park at 6:30pm every Tu- esday, a starting point from which Eddie Reid and John Mullen organise the runs. For those looking to get in- volved, the price is £15 for a 10 week block.

To get involved simply call Eddie Reid on: 0794 852 9278 or e-mail: eddie.harri- ers@gmail.com for more de- tails and to register your in- terest.

with current and former pla- yers, Henderson made good on his promise, getting ‘Feel Milan’ the club’s social me- dia-friendly motto, inked on his right thigh. Originally started as a one-off charity team, the club grew from friends coming to- gether and having fun. Gra- dually, more players got invol- ved and the team played in friendlies for a few years until joining the Glasgow and Dis- trict Sunday Football League this season.

Their name derives from

not from a romantic bond wi- th their Serie A namesake but from more pragmatic ro- ots. “The name and colours

came about purely based on the fact that the less than re- putable and probably illegal website we bought our first kits from had the AC Milan 2010/11 kits as their chea- pest.” Gary told the Post. “Fa- te, obviously.”

The team has received support from a glittering ar- ray of stars from the world of football beyond but who is Gary’s favourite? “I'm always going to say Hogan becau- se its Hulk Hogan and I'm a big childhood wrestling fan, but there were some amazing ones like The Fonz and The Blue Power Ranger too that were probably just as good in their obscurity.”

EK Milan won the GDSFC League Cup, their first ever cup f inal ,

in December

and currently lie 3rd in the Glasgow and District Sun- day Football League 3rd Di-

vision and are always ke- en to welcome new fans to their games. Gary told us: “There’s always more room for Ultras. We had over 300 people down for the final, and our usual 6pm Sunday kick off at K-Park are famous for drawing crowds of literally more than ten people.” EK Milan’s fixtures are available on Facebook and ekmilan.co.uk.

As an unbiased chairman, who's your best player?

So many legendary names have passed through the ranks over the years - Simon Pettigrew, Gary Russell, The Hawke - and we're currently spoiled with some legitimate talent across the park, but our best player always has been, and always will be The Milan Ultras. The Ultras got us to a cup final with their 'Sparklers for Pyro' and the dragged us over the cup final line with drums, flags and facepaint. They're what drives Milan.
