3 April 2015 East Kilbride Post WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Kate Cartwright editorial@eastkilbridepost.co.uk

ll History is a subject that as children we can find bo- ring, as we get older we start to appreciate what has gone by and how mu- ch those before us have go- ne through to provide us wi- th the life we have now. History was yesterday, not necessarily 200 or 300 years ago. History is the

1500s 1600s 50s 60s 70s 80s 90s and so on, whate- ver happened before today, that's what makes it so gre- at, interesting and diverse. What happened whi- le you were at school is now History!

East Kilbride Histo- rical Society was es- tablished in 1982, be- coming more organi- zed and experienced over the years. Their passion for all histo- ry is what drives them although local history is their main agenda.

Now this was in 1988 and the children at the time were second year students aged 12 and 13. You will now either be heading for the big 40 or you have alre- ady celebrated it.

In 1988 many children from Hunter high in East Kil- bride produced a series of drawings set in TheVilla- ge. These drawings were of great artistic ability by these youngsters, winning a com- petition at the time. Mr Allan has recently uncovered these drawings from the archives and has asked us to help find the- se Artists, he is hoping to show these drawings again at Central Library in the ne- ar future and says “it would be great if we could find the children”.

We would be delighted if you would contact us if you are one of these artists : Nico- la Walters, Fong Wan, Li- sa Stephen, Laura Starrs, Scott McNair, Richard Murphy, Laura Knight, Morag Kerr, Craig Mc- Dougall, Iain Duff, De- rek Donoghue, Lor- na Dick, Scott Dickson, Kirsty Connell, Gail Cis- man, David Beattie, Su- zanne Atkins, Kirsty Cou- dels, Roddy Fairbart, Muir Glendinning, Nicola Gon- zalez, Lindsay Hayes and Dianne Henney.
