ors and sleek figure is a definite head turner that will have the eco conscious turning too. With its tiny three cylinder turbocharged engine and two electric motor combined it puts out 350 hp. This really is a glance into the future wi- th a test producing 170+mpg in a la- boratory. Real world figures are not as
A G74 3XH udi e-tron 1.4 TFSI (mid range from £34,950)
The award winning car from Audi is taking the hybrid car to the next level with a whopping 550 mile range using combined petrol and electric power with the abi- lity to achieve a whopping 188 mpg. Unlike many higher end eco friendly cars the Audi is understated about its green credentials, looking more like a regular pro- duction line model, albeit with classic sporty lines. An appeal to the business motorist with a re- fined need for statement (without the executive pricetag or passé carbon footprint) would seem to be the order of the day. It has a 1.4l tsi engine that produces 148 bhp combined with a 99 bhp motor that drives the front wheels. If your daily commute falls within the cars 31mile range (on pu- re electric power) you could see your fuel bills fall dramatically!

impressive although the tech seems to be headed in the right direction. BMW have really set themselves at the fore- front of hybrid technology after the i8, releasing a less pricey car that promi- ses incredible range and mpg (the i3 electric zeros in at under £30,000 and is showing great promise). I hope they start to lean toward the more average consumer, bringing the latest techno- logy in an affordable form to us all. For the time being the waiting list is over 2 years, even if we had the money.
onda NSX, 2015 (high range £126,835 est.) This top of the line hybrid is set to blow all of the pure bred sports cars out of the water this year with three electric mo- tors and one twin turbocharged V6 making what is rumored to be in Nissan GTR territory with a sub 3 second 0-60 time when producing 500+ bhp mated to a nine speed dual clutch transmission. One electric motor is used for assisting each front wheel and one filling in the gaps between gear changes to allow smooth seamless acceleration. This gives you the pleasure of driving that the pure petrolhead yearns for and the ability to switch to eco mode to zip through town on electric power, keeping energy use to a minimum. It really gives the best of both worlds, at a cost. But with the NSX’s pre order books already full, and the price tag in the £125,000+ range it will probably be a while before we see many peo- ple zipping around in these. Well we can all dream can’t we? Heres hoping the NSX can live up to its heritage and take the world by storm, again.
