2014 ULTIMATE CANADA AWARDS ULTIMATE CANADA SCHOLARSHIP 2014
The Canadian youth Ultimate scene is chock-full of talented and passionate players. Many players graduate from high school and university and continue to give back as coaches and mentors. Every year, Ultimate Canada recognizes the service and dedication of one student athlete with the Ultimate Canada Scholarship. This year’s recipient is Erin Bussin (UWO, UBC).
Bussin demonstrated great leadership on and off the field while attending the University of Western Ontario and has since moved to Vancouver to pursue a master’s degree at the University of British Columbia.
“With my recent move to British Columbia from Ontario, I hope to get involved in the Vancouver Ultimate community. The University of British Columbia already has a strong Ultimate program, and I am planning on helping a dedicated group of student athletes gain club status with the school,” Bussin says.
On top of her academic accomplishments, Bussin is also a force on the field. A two-time Canadian U23 national team member, Bussin has also played for the Western Sharks/Mustangs, UBC Thunderbirds and Ontario’s premier women’s club team, Capitals.

“This summer I had the opportunity to play Capitals and assistant coach TORO. TORO was a family full of confident, poised, and goofy athletes,” says Bussin. “My job was to prepare them and keep them focused on our team goals. Being able to help coach some of the most skilled girls in the country was an absolute pleasure.”
It’s clear that Bussin demonstrates a level of commitment and passion to everything she does, which makes her a perfect candidate for the Ultimate Canada Scholarship. We wish the best of luck to Erin in her academic and athletic pursuits.
