The energy and anxiety going into day one were pretty tangible. After our first day of playing, everyone had really loosened up and found their groove with each other. Despite being pretty spent after playing four games and two scrimmages, we still had plenty of energy to hit the city. Vegas wasn’t ready for us… or maybe the other way around.
Trying to organize 70 people to do the same thing just wasn’t going to happen, so we ended up splitting into smaller groups. It was really exciting to explore a new city with new people, and it seemed too short to get to know both better. I’ll know to book my stay a little longer for our next TC event.
Despite how amazing the weekend in Vegas was, I think it’s only going to get better from here. After seeing the skill level of each individual on the team and the wealth of knowledge of our coaches firsthand, I think we’re destined for greatness. As we continue to gel both on and off the field, we’re only going to get better as a team. Look for us making waves all summer long.
Although the weekend was jam-packed with good times on and off the field, my favourite moment had to be going on the D-Line for universe point in the mixed final. It was a very empowering experience to be put in a position that asked so much of me, and it felt amazing to rise to the occasion with six others of Canada’s best to score that winning point. The eruption of cheers and the rushing of the field by the rest of the team is an experience I won’t forget.
So far, I’m loving the TC family vibes, and I can’t wait to get to know everyone on the team better. The fierce competitor in me is looking forward to a season full of challenging games, and to tackling those challenges with some of the best youth players in the world. I’m craving the next big game to leave it all on the line, and I have a feeling I’m only going to get hungrier as we approach London in July.
