Our Victoria Hall...

This year Stirling Council has to make more budget savings and as a consequence has taken the decision to pass over its Halls to become the responsibility of their local communities. In anticipation of something like this happening the group of volunteers who have run the Hall for the Council for the past 15 years (and paid most of the bills) applied successfully last year for the Hall to become a Charitable Trust in order to ensure that the community of Dunblane would still be able to enjoy the facilities offered at Victoria Hall.

From 1st April the 8 Trustees, along with all the other volunteers who help on a daily basis, have agreed to take over the Hall in its entirety on a 20 year fully repairing, fully insuring lease from Stirling Council with an option to purchase within the first 2 years of the Lease. However taking responsibility for all external and internal repairs as well as having all the necessary insurances in place is going to add considerably to our running costs even though all the volunteers are unpaid.

Also the Council is withdrawing the services of their employee Richard Crossan who was based at the Hall as a part-time Caretaker for 14 hours per week. As there will no longer be a Caretaker this means the Hall will remain closed between lets. The telephone number of the Hall is 822 176 and there is an answering machine for people to leave messages. Our email address is bookings@victoriahalldunblane.com

In order to help pay for all of the above we are increasing the cost of hiring the Main Hall by an extra £1 per hour through the week but as from 6.00 p.m. on a Friday the cost will be the same as for a Saturday or Sunday let i.e. £15 per hour.

We have a proven track record of running the Hall successfully over the years and we have managed to maintain a very high standard thanks to the commitment of our team of volunteers. Our Hall which was built in 1887 is used for many varied community activities as well as Ceilidhs, dances, weddings, etc. and with your support, co-operation and assistance we will continue to provide Dunblane with a splendid Hall to be proud of for many years to come.
