species of birds in these diverse habitats. A short drive to Lake Audy will allow you to pass, perhaps very closely, to a wild bison herd in the area’s enclosure. To get in touch with nature and have a closer look at the unique vegetation and wildflowers, some that grow over seven feet tall, pick a trail and go discover for yourself. Tere are over 400 km of trails for hiking or backpacking. From the rugged gorges of the east to the majestic ever- green forests of the central region and graceful meadows of the west, you’re sure to find something to entice you. Hiking trails range from easy to difficult on gravel or grass paths. Many are also mountain bike-friendly. Just read the trail guides online or pick up a map at the visi- tors’ centre in Wasagaming.
