13th-15th March Butlins Resort, Minehead

Bloc are back with another outstanding electronica and dance line up for 2015. After a brief hiatus, they return to the wonderworld of Butlins in Minehead (feat swimming pool with slides! A fairground! An ice cream parlour!) this March. Classic greats like Possibly Te Sexiest Man Alive™ Egyptian Lover, Modeselektor and Autechre play alongside hundreds of established and upcoming electronic musicians on five stages. You get to stay in a chalet, which means NO MUD, people. Sure, it’ll take a while to get there from here, but absolutely worth the journey; think of how many legendary snack breaks you could fit in from here to Wales. In 2015, where every festival seems to want to appeal to everything you might have ever wanted to hear or do, from ages 0-100, one of the many beauties of Bloc is that they just have amazing artists playing amazing music, with no fannying about. Go for that drop at Bloc.

6th & 7th June Victoria Park, London

Field Day takes place in Victoria Park, Tower Hamlets, London. Tis is its ninth year, and it’s sold out every time, which is quite some achievement. It’s a nice, simple festival, spread over two days in a place that’s easy to get to, and has the most cutting edge of bands you could want to see alongside some quirky unknowns and classic icons. Tis year is no exception, with new-ish bands Hookworms, Kindness and the Allah La’s playing as well as more established acts like Django Django, Caribou and Madlib. Te Pixies headlined last year, and the audience will no doubt be full of 40 year old shoegazers thrilled to see Ride reformed in 2015. It’s a hipster’s paradise, from egg and spoon races to Tim Burgess out of the Charlatans’ coffee bike, so don’t forget your beard and stripy top.
