We are off to a great start as we are rounding out the first quarter of 2015, and the excitement is just beginning for the Associate Council!

We had a rootin’ tootin’ time at the February Associate Council Luncheon as we got “Back in the Saddle” and listened to Kevin Frankel, our 2015 GHBA President. Kevin shared his goals for the GHBA for the upcoming year, as well as advice on how to make the most of your membership. Gordon McKnight of Dow Chemical Company was the winner of our February luncheon drawing, and will be invited to our end of year Speaker Appreciation party.

The Chili & Salsa Cookoff turned out to be a sizzling event, bigger and better than ever! We had a huge turnout on a beautiful day. Tony Boilek and the Chili & Salsa Committee did an amazing job. Thank you for all your hard work. To all the cooking teams, sponsors, volunteers, judges and attendees, we appreciate your participation in making the cookoff yet another successful event! Fun was had by all as we ate countless bowls of chili, threw washers, networked and enjoyed the live entertainment.

Next up on the schedule is the March 5 Associate Council Luncheon. Our luncheons are always held on the first Thursday of the

month at 11:30 a.m. in the GHBA Education Center. “It’s Your Lucky Day,” as we’ll have the opportunity to hear from to three of Houston’s emerging builders: Brian Hornsby, Castletree Homes; Jay McManus, Drees Homes; and Steve Von Hofe, Sitterle Homes. Don’t miss the opportunity to attend this lunch and find out thoughts on their growth and the direction they plan on taking in the Houston market.

It’s tee time! The Associate Council Spring Golf Tournament is right around the corner, scheduled for March 26 at Quail Valley Golf Course. Come by for a chance at the Hole-in-One, Straightest Drive, Closest to the Pin or Longest Drive contests. Teams and sponsorships are filling up fast. What a great way to promote your company and also treat your customers to a great day on the course.

Join us at these upcoming events and see how the council can benefit you and your business. As your 2015 Associate Council president, if you have any questions on how to get involved, you can always contact me, one of our board members, or our staff liaison Peggy Means. We would enjoy the opportunity to help make sure you are getting the best return on your membership investment. I look forward seeing you soon.
