The Bay Area Builders Association is off to an exciting start in 2015. At our February meeting we were privileged to be part of the presentation of a new mortgage-free home to a deserving veteran and his family, together with Operation Finally Home. The home will be built in League City by our past President Murphy Yates and his company Harbour Classic Builders, LLC. The soon-to-be new homeowners are Corporal Jonathon Dowdell and his wife Rebecca. If you would like to participate in the construction of this home in any way, please let us know and get involved. You’ll be glad you did.


Operation Finally Home began right here with the Bay Area group as “BABA Support Our Troops.” Since then, OFH has grown into one of the finest veteran support groups in the nation, and we are proud to be a part of continuing their great work.

events that will be beneficial to each of us. It is my plan that builders and associates will be presented with valuable information and tools that they can take away from our meetings and implement in their building programs on the same day. Toward that end we will be presenting three of the ABCs of Building seminars at the BABA venue in April, July and October. Last December, we offered an outstanding and well attended program on Building Science and Energy Code changes presented by two of the foremost experts in the country. We are planning more education related events as the year goes on. As a custom builder and remodeler for most of my life, I have come to understand the tremendous value of taking advantage of such activities.


With 2015 being a legislative year, we are planning close contact with the Texas Association of Builders (TAB) staff and GHBA’s Government Affairs Committee to keep us well informed regarding legislative activity that affects all of us in the Texas building industry.
