Talking about funerals is normally the last thing people want to talk about, so many of us choose to literally ignore the inevitable!
The consequences of ignoring one of the only things we can guarantee will happen in life could result in your family being burdened with a fi nancial headache, Spanish red tape and unnecessary stress at what will already be a very stressful time.
Things are done very differently in Spain to the UK. Funerals will generally take place with in 24 hours of death. When this has to be delayed to allow for family to arrive, the already expensive costs quickly rise to even more scary amounts.
Funeral directors want to be paid within 24 hours but bank accounts are generally frozen at the time of death. Not many of us today have a stash of notes under the mattress to pay the costs of even the most basic funerals, and no one wants to be scraping the cents together to give their loved one the send off they deserve.
These are just a few of the many reasons why the majority of Spanish nationals (who can speak the lingo and know the system) have a policy in place from when they are a few weeks old.
For as little as 13.25€ a month for a couple aged 55, or for around 12€ a month for a middle aged family of 4, you can take away the fi nancial and emotional burden from loved ones left behind.
