QF Focus Magazine

Hi All. This month I would like to feature two well established “veteran” musicians, living on the South Costa Blanca, who have joined forces recently to form a very exciting Rock Duo. Yes! I am referring to none other than Alan Warden and Charlie “The Pirate” Farley. This affable twosome are already making a fantastic impact on the local music scene and are professionally known as - Charlie’s “Bit on the Side”! Many of us will already know Charlie Farley, guitarist with the “Legendary” Faith Rock Duo. His trademark blonde dreadlocks make him stand out from the crowd, despite his diminutive stature. The Faith have been rocking the Costas for many years now, but Robbie Priest (vocalist) recently decided to take a well earned and extended break from the music business. This prompted Charlie to seek out his long standing friend Alan Warden, who had performed with Charlie some years back, in the old “Pirate Bar” in Playa Flamenca Commercial centre...... Anybody remember those good old days? With very little rehearsal required, Alan and Charlie got back together and performed their first gig at Doolan’s Bar, Via Park 3 and it would be safe to say ....they “Rocked the House”!!! Word had got around about the reunion in the days leading up to

the gig, and the venue was packed with fans of The Faith, plus Alan’s regular following.

What an impressive start to their debut performance together. Kicking off the show, with Status Quo’s “Caroline”, they went on to perform more classic rock hits from not only The Quo, but Thin Lizzy (with the characteristic dual guitar solos), Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Guns ´N Roses, and many, many more. The atmosphere was absolutely electric and the crowd were jumping and dancing all night. The feedback following the gig was fantastic, with many of the patrons of the venue wanting to know where the next gigs of Charlie’s “Bit on the Side” were going to be. Charlie and Alan were nothing short of tremendous that evening and gave it their all! The reaction of the crowd was awesome, and everybody wanted to chat with the guys until the early hours. If you haven’t had the opportunity to see this exciting act, keep watching the local press for dates of their forthcoming appearances.

Long live Rock ´N Roll!!!

Bye for now, D.P.
