Well so far I have stuck to my New Year’s resolution and have already had my fi rst of many mini breaks away with a trip to the snow in Sierra Nevada. We all had a fantastic time and experienced a few snow blizzards whilst there. I was a little dubious of the drive up and down the mountain but didn’t actually fi nd it as bad as I expected.
It is such a beautiful area with the most spectacular views and the locals were all very welcoming and friendly. I particularly enjoyed the tapas that are given with every drink as it gives you the opportunity to experience different food that you otherwise may not have sampled. How they make
any money is beyond me...we were all planning to eat at a bar close to the apartments but after all the tapas they brought, didn’t feel we had room left for a main meal!!!
Our apartments were lovely, very modern and comfortable however the 300 steps we had to climb and descend on a regular basis became a bit of a chore, to say the least. On the plus side, it defi nitely helped to burn off the extra calories we consumed with the food and wine. Next year I will certainly be looking for accommodation closer to the plaza.
We are all very fortunate to live in an area with so many local amenities and businesses offering services and products to the residents. At this moment, when times are quiet and diffi cult, try to remember that these local businesses rely on your support and QF Focus in turn, relies on their support, so keep it local and tell them where you saw or heard about them fi rst.
