“The new window display has

certainly made us stand and has help us to take the agency to another level. We are attracting a different type of client and are now listening superior properties. I even had to demonstrate to a visitor how the pockets worked as they thought we had a projector

INTERESTING INSTRUCTIONS Felicity J Lord brings to market ‘The 1900 House’

The property that starred in Channel 4’s hit TV series ‘The 1900 House’ has been put onto the market with Felicity J Lord. Felicity J Lord has been

appointed by its current owners, Mr and Mrs Thomas, to sell the four-bedroom terraced house on Elliscombe Road in Charlton.

The TV series, which ran

over four episodes, followed the trials and tribulations of the Bowlers, who were selected from over 400 families, to journey back in time and live like the Victorians for three months.

As part of the historical

reality show, all modern elements from the 1890’s built house were removed including electricity, insulation, indoor toilet, and central heating. Period fixtures such as a ‘copper’ (a large pot used for heating washing clothes over a fire), cast iron oven and fire places were also installed.

SCOTTISH MARKET

If you want to shine on your street, LED is the secret!

on each pocket.” George Bhakar of KSD Lettings

certainly needed to think carefully before deciding what display system he chose for his new Lettings office in Southampton – he has 31 competitors within a one mile radius. KSD have been in business for over 28 years providing commercial lettings, they have now just open their first high street office. He selected Fairfield LED Light Pockets as they looked completely different to anything else in the area. “I wanted to create a modern fresh approach that would turn heads and bring customers into

our office, since our opening we’ve had loads of compliments on how attractive our office looks.” Meanwhile in Lancashire, Dunderdale Asquith has opened a new larger office in a highly prominent position in Lytham. Stephen Asquith says, “We are now the most modern office in our area. Our office really stands out, the new display equipment from Fairfield is clean and modern and totally different from everyone else in town.

“The LED Light Pockets create a nice glow inside the office and you certainly cannot miss us when walking down the street.”

Every working day solicitors across Scotland helped 86 homeowners sell their home. 22,537 homes were sold in 2011 through solicitor estate agents, with a combined value of £4bn based on figures released by Solicitors Property Centres (SPC) Scotland. Malcolm Cannon, Chairman of SPC Scotland and Chief Executive of Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre (ESPC) said, “In the face of a gloomy economic picture it is good to see that the property market is continuing to tick over. Homes are taking longer to sell and sellers have to be more realistic about the price that they are asking for. “However, it is important that the market continues to function and those who need to sell their property for lifestyle, work, personal or financial reasons are able to do so. I believe that these figures indicate this is the case”.

Selling with a solicitor

Since the programme finished, Mr and Mrs Thomas have been busy undertaking a transformation of their own, bringing the house right back up to date. Says Jack Downes, Branch

Partner for Felicity J Lord Blackheath, “We are absolutely thrilled to be selling the home that featured in ‘The 1900 House’. I remember watching it every week when it

was on TV and thinking to myself I am glad I wasn’t alive then. Thankfully, the owners have brought the house right back up to date whilst at the same time retaining many of the original Victorian features, and in the process creating the ideal home for the 21st century family.” 50 Elliscombe Road is

currently on the market for £550,000.

continues to be the preferred approach for homeowners across Scotland. Malcolm added, “The dominance of the solicitor estate agent is a Scottish phenomenon and is one that has proven to work over many years. Being able to manage the marketing of a property and subsequent legal exchange of ownership under one roof helps the process move forward efficiently and give all involved certainty at as early an opportunity as possible.”
