support to cancer victims, carers, families and friends. “As well as helping Macmillan we
wanted to involve Belvoir franchise owners in a campaign that would really unite the group and give us a common goal to work towards. I am delighted that Belvoir franchise owners and staff rose to the challenge. “Ellie Wallis from the franchise
support team at Central Offi ce and Reena Patel, our marketing manager deserve huge thanks and recognition for all the work they have done in coordinating the project. The campaign was so successful that the Belvoir group has decided to continue its alignment with Macmillan and our plans for 2012 will be announced in the near future.” Gemma Shaw, fundraising manager at
Belvoir raises over £16,000 for Macmillan
Belvoir has smashed its one-year charity fundraising challenge and raised over £16,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Belvoir MD, Dorian Gonsalves says,
“I am very proud that Belvoir franchise owners have achieved so much in the past year. This was the fi rst time that Belvoir
had aligned itself with a national charity and the campaign launched with a Go Green Day on 1st February, 2011. “Our initial target was to raise £10,000
for Macmillan, but this was achieved in just seven months. Macmillan is an amazing charity, and provides so much help and
A cheque for the Air Ambulance
Matthew Davis and David Tate, Joint Managing Directors of Davis Tate visited the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance in Benson to present a cheque to the Air Ambulance for £500 to the organisation in contribution to their outstanding work. This donation was made in place of sending out Christmas cards in 2011, with the company having decided that in this age of electronic media, it would be better to send out an e-card and support a local charity instead. The Thames Valley & Chiltern Air
Ambulance Trust is a charity funded by the people of Thames Valley. The Air Ambulance started operating from White Waltham airfi eld in June 1999 and moved to RAF Benson in January 2007. The yellow and red helicopter carries life saving equipment and is crewed by a pilot and two paramedics. It can transport patients
at speed to one of several hospitals in the area with landing facilities, or to a specialist hospital if required, and can also take emergency doctors to the patient at the scene. The paramedics are provided by the NHS; all other costs must be funded by the Trust so the Air Ambulance relies heavily on donations.
Macmillan said, “I am overwhelmed at the fantastic amount of money raised by Belvoir Lettings. From bike rides to golf days, from Go Green Days to sky dives – you really have surpassed yourselves. “This huge amount of money will
truly make a difference to those people who hear the words, ‘I’m sorry, you have cancer’.”
Comptons in the community
Market Deeping-based Comptons donates money for every house they sell, giving between £100 and
£200 to charity for each sale as part of the Comptons Charitable Fund. The charitable fund was launched in September and has 60 members across Market Deeping and the surrounding area, including sporting groups such as Deeping Rugby Union Football Club, charities including Shine, Peterborough Streets, and community groups like Deepings Community Trust. People selling through Comptons pick which group they would like to give a grant of £100 to. Becky Compton said, “People really
want to support their local community and our charitable fund provides something which directly benefi ts it.”
