Cinema premiere for Auction House
The first ever UK property auction to be held in a cinema has been staged in London.
Rolling out the red carpet, the stars of this event were all properties, and the hosts were Auction House. The auction was set to take place on 22 February 2012 at the Everyman Cinema in Belsize Park, in the same week as the film event of the year; the Oscar ceremony in Hollywood.
Auction House London’s auctioneer Andrew Binstock said, “The Everyman Cinema is a fantastic high-profile venue for a property auction. Its stylish decor, raked seating and comfortable leather chairs will help make the sale a must-see event for buyers and sellers alike, and allow us to give our properties the red carpet treatment they deserve.” Auction House London said they would be offering more than 30 quality lots for sale on the day. Andrew added, “We confidently

“As auctioneer, I’m determined
to deliver an Oscar-winning performance and we’re expecting a real buzz in the room - although I’m hoping there won’t be any smooching in the back row! “To mark the first property auction in a cinema, there will be popcorn for bidders, and I’ll swap my gavel for a clapperboard!”
appetite for prime stock at its last event in autumn 2011, London and Country Property Auctions achieved sales of more than £3m, with one property attracting 15 bidders and eventually selling at more than £100,000 more than its Guide Price. Richard Delaney, Auction
Consultant for London and Country Property Auctions, said, “Coupled with the speed and certainty of an auction sale for a vendor as well as the choice and transparency involved in an auction purchase, auctions have long held appeal to a certain audience. However, set against a current difficult economic backdrop, we are noticing more and more people considering auctions as a method to sell and buy property, across all segments of the market. “Our last auction, for
example, proved that there is significant appetite for prime auction stock with most lots attracting significant
competition and multiple bids.”
