THE BEST LIVE MUSIC FOR THE MONTH AHEAD
I enjoy about 50% of Christmas. Te other 50 I find exasperating and quite weird. Tere are a lot of positives, I really like those little sausages wrapped in bacon but Cointreau is probably (definitely) the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth. I am more than aware that I'm coming at this from a privileged position when really all that matters is that you spend the day with someone else, in the warm. Keep that in mind gang. But even with all the festivities, the wheels keep on turning folks and the bands keep on touring. So let's see what Norwich has to offer us shall we?
Start the party month with psych rock blokes Temples plus this band what sound like they're from the 90s called Superfood and Klaus Johann Grobe. Tis is at the Waterfront on the 1st.
Allusondrugsplay Epic Studios also on the 1st. Apparently they are an "urgent group". Hi, I am urgent. Pleased to meet you.
Gerard and the Watchmen+ Worry Dolls + Alex Bayley play Te Bicycle Shop on the 2nd. I used to have some Guatemalan worry dolls that I used to tell my secrets to and put them under my pillow overnight. Gosh, that really sounds dreadfully sad. It was probably about praying we wouldn't run out of Alphabites or whatever.
Coasts are playing the Waterfront on the 4th with Racing Glaciers + Secret From Richard. For lots of acoustic stuff you can see Nick Mercer Jr
playing acoustic heading up an acoustic bill of other acoustic stuff at OPEN on the 5th. I wonder what the acoustics are like.
Te Burning Crows + No Mercy + Truescapeare at Te Waterfront Studio on the 5th. OR dig out your bill chill vibes mate and live it live with Submotion Orchestraat the LCR also on the 5th.
Los Campesinos!@ NAC on the 6th. Art band! Art band! Art band!
Turbowolfheadline the Download Freezes Over Tour w/ Empress + God Damn @ Te Waterfront Studio on the 8th. Tat's everyone's favourite Wolverhampton boys GOD DAMN folks! You know, the ones who your favourite local label Gravy Records released?! BOOM BOOM POW. HOW YOU LIKE ME NAAAAOW.
Te Sam Kelly Trioplay Te 46 / December 2014/
outlineonline.co.uk
Bicycle Shop on the 9th. Is that Sam Kelly plus a trio or does the trio include Sam Kelly? Is it 3 people or 4 people? Could it be two duos? Or a duo and two solo artists? Or four solo artists?
2013's Next Big Ting winners Te Tinking Menplay with Das Fenster & Te Alibis + Tibetian Night Terrors at Open, also on the 13th.
Rival Sons+ Blues Pills play at the LCR on the 16th. Rival Sons made their new album with a ‘conscious decision for this band to be just what it is’. Fuck, that is deep. Oh no sorry, I got deep mixed up with meaningless.
Hubs Records bring back By Te Rivers to NAC on the 17th, they’re always good for a nice knees up.
Te 10th is a very special day because it's the day of the Gravy Records re(Launch) Party featuring 5 acts, four of whom are releasing on Gravy Records this month! Hells fucking bells, I KNOW. Te incredibleBK and Dadwill headline in celebration of their new EP, both Hannah Lou Clark and Popop are also releasing EPs and London's Te Pearl Harts are hitting us up with a killer single. Also on the bill is excellent newbies Wintering from up norf. Tis is all Wednesday 10th December at NAC.
Gnarwolves+ Prawn + Public Domain play Epic Studios on the 11th. Nice little hardcore comedown from the night before perhaps.
King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys will wear suits and do their best to make you dance using brass at NAC on the 13th. I'm sure there will be a Christmas number, surely?! Shirley?!
‘THE GAME’ POPOP
TRACKS OF THE MONTH ‘LOST’ BK AND DAD
Some of my local faves Birds of Hell+ True Adventures + Ben C Winn are playing Te Bicycle Shop that very same night. Get there early to see Ben’s literary wares.
Te Tilting Sky Christmas Show presents Morganway+ Claws + King Blood + Hurne @ NAC on the 18th or see Hard Skin @ Te Owl Sanctuary on the same night. Or do both, do whatever you want mate.
Have a nice time and that. Seeyaround...
