Mark Twain Masquers, and the Park Road Playhouse. Brigham was active with the Springfield College Alumni Association and was the Tarbell Medallion recipient in 1986. He is survived by his wife Joan, three children, grandchil- dren, and many nieces and nephews.
Angelo Correale Jr. (G’51), East Longmeadow, Mass., April 12, 2014. Correale served in the U.S. Army in World War II. While attending Springfield College, he earned the nickname “The Sunderland Ghost” for his quick feet as a running back on the foot- ball team. For 15 years, he served as a volunteer assistant football coach at Springfield College for Coach Delong ’74. He was a past president of the Springfield College Alumni Council and recipi- ent of the Tarbell Medallion. Correale also was inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002. He was a teacher, football coach, and athletic director at East Longmeadow (Mass.) High School. In addition, he served as an assis- tant principal at Birchland Park Middle School, and a principal at Center School, Pleasantview School, Mountain View School, and Meadow Brook School, all in East Longmeadow. Correale is survived by his wife Elizabeth, two sons, five grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
1951 William Fesperman (G), Pittsboro, N.C., Oct. 9, 2013. Fesperman served in the military as a first lieutenant in Japan and Korea before a lifelong career with the YMCA, retiring as the executive director of the Cannon Memorial YMCA in North Carolina. He is survived by his wife Jean, four children, and seven grandchildren.

1952 Dorothy (Sessler) Thurlow (G), Suffield, Conn., Dec. 12, 2013. Thurlow was a school teacher in Oregon for more than 30 years before retiring to New England in 1998. She is survived by her sisters.
1953 Robert W. Raiche, Danvers, Mass., Jan. 1, 2014. Raiche was a YMCA director for many years in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Hawaii. In 1986 Raiche founded Friends Forever, a program geared toward creating trust, empathy, and friendship among cultures in conflict by working with international and local youth leaders. There currently are active programs in Northern Ireland, Israel, and Africa. Raiche was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize and received many other awards for his work. He also was the director of the National Kidney Foundation of Massachusetts, and later opened the popular Danvers store, Toys and Things. Raiche is survived by his wife Yooko, three children, and four grandchildren.
1954 Joanne E. Scott (NG), Ottowa, Ontario, Jan. 15, 2014. Scott was a registered nurse as well as a breeder of English cocker spaniels. She is survived by her daughters, brothers, five grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
Frank N. Treuchet (G’62), Westminister, Md., Nov. 18, 2013. Treuchet joined the U.S. Coast Guard as a merchant seaman at 15 years old before entering the U.S. Navy and serving for nine years. He was drafted by the Cleveland Browns, but instead chose to continue his schooling at Springfield College where he became an all-star football player. Treuchet was a longtime history teacher and coach at numerous schools before becoming principal
of Franklin Middle School in Reistertown, Md. He is survived by his wife Etta, two children, and five grandchildren.
1955 Kenneth Clark Goodwin Sr. (G), Dunedin, Fla., Oct. 8, 2013. Goodwin fought in the Korean War and worked in education as an administrator, teacher, and coach before eventually owning his own business. He is survived by his wife Sally, five children, and eight grandchildren.
1956 Richard Rocco Guerrera, Hartford, Conn., Jan. 9, 2014. Guerrera served as a corporal in the U.S. Army before spending more than 30 years as an English teacher and school principal in South Hadley, Mass. He is survived by his daugh- ters, his sister, and his grandson.
Walter Hurley (G), Hartford, Conn., Feb. 9, 2014. Hurley was a former Weaver High School administrator who helped genera- tions of children achieve their dreams through his scholarship foundation. He has been called Hartford’s “greatest citizen” and is well known in the greater Hartford area for his sound advice and knack for motivating and helping kids. Hurley is survived by his daughter.
Arthur J. Serra, Agawam, Mass., Feb. 22, 2014. Serra had a long and varied career beginning with his service in the U.S. Army, before becoming a ski instructor, and eventually an educator, spending 31 years at Ludlow (Mass.) High School. Serra is survived by his wife Judith, two children, a sister, and a brother.
1957 Ralph Arlen, Springfield, Mass., Jan. 11, 2014. Arlen served in the U.S. Army as a photographer in Berlin, Germany, and continued using his photography skills
throughout the course of his life. He also worked with AutoZone setting up store locations across the country. Arlen is survived by his sister, three children, and four grandchildren.
Joan Cormack, Vero Beach, Fla., May 15, 2013. Cormack continues to leave an educational impact after her passing in the most unlikely of ways. She bequeathed in her will a total of $113,398.68 to the Ludlow (Mass.) Police Department (LPD), which the department will use toward train- ing and professional development for police personnel. Cormack, who served as a matron at the LPD beginning in the 1950s, had a teaching career at Birchland Park Middle School in East Longmeadow and then at Hampden Junior High. During her 26 years at Technical High School in Springfield, she was a history teacher and then a guidance coun- selor.
The LPD has created the “Ms. Joan Cormack Police Training and Professional Development Account” for the funds. According to Chief Paul Madera, the officers who receive the training will carry it with them for the rest of their careers, therefore honoring Cormack and her education back- ground.
Minnie (Baillie) Ullman, Stockton, Calif., Nov. 21, 2013. Ullman volunteered as a chaplain at the men’s prison in Tracy, Calif., for 20 years. She is survived by her husband Terry.
Richard C. Walmer, Fort Myers, Fla., Oct. 22, 2013. Walmer worked for The Hartford Insurance Company for 30 years before start- ing his own business, Walmer and Associates, an independent consulting firm. Walmer is survived by his brother, three chil- dren, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
