1976 Mark Behr and wife Linda received a U.S. Design Patent for a multifaceted swimming kick- board. The new design has unique lateral cutouts and fins to increase resistance and improve training. The patent was granted in September 2012.


Stephen Crawford was named to the UL Workplace Health and Safety Medical Advisory Board that consists of distinguished medical experts. The purpose of the board is to provide strategic direction and clinical insights for UL.


1978 Barbara Segura (G’84) is plan- ning retirement after 20 years in corrections with the State of Connecticut and will be heading to a warmer climate.


Craig Shirley is a New York Times bestselling author and noted Ronald Reagan biographer. He met with famed historian David McCullough at the recent open- ing of the new George Washington Library at Mt. Vernon in Alexandria, Va.


1981 Mary Grey got together with three generations of Springfield College friends: Terrence Leahy, Kimberly Grey ’15, and Miles Tipton ’52.

Stephen Steele, U.S. Navy reserve captain, recently returned from a four-month tour of duty in Afghanistan


where he was responsible for the health and well-being of 2,000 people.


1983 Patrick Duffy (G) was a keynote speaker at the 2014 National Coaching Conference in Washington, D.C., in June 2013. Duffy is a professor of sport coaching at Leeds Metropolitan University, U.K., vice president for Europe for the International Council for Coaching Excellence, and chair of the European Coaching Council.

The Springfield College Child Development Center is enrolling children ages 2 years 9 months to 5 years. Additional


space for toddlers and pre-school aged children will be available for summer and fall sessions. Alumni rates are available. The Center recently achieved national re-accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
