Roger Moffat wrote in to share that Springfield College was well represented in Stuart, Fla., recently. Linda Cruise Moffat ’73, Barry Weinberg ’73, Ray Lauson ’73, and President Emeritus Richard Flynn and wife Jani all enjoyed some time on Linda’s boat, the Lillie Bell.

Paula H. Summit recently won the 2013 Central Western Zone New York State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYS AHPERD) Amazing Person Award. Summit was a finalist on The Biggest Loser and was a keynote speaker at the NYS AHPERD annual conference.


1969 Dan Purushotham (G) was honored with the University of Hartford’s 2013 Anchor Award, the most prestigious award presented by the university’s alumni association. The award is given to individuals who have distinguished themselves in their careers by achieving the highest level of professional accomplishment. Purushotham is being recognized for his work in helping launch the Colonial Total Rewards Association (CTRA), which is an educational and professional development organization serving total

rewards professionals in central Connecticut and western Massachusetts. Purushotham is the co-president of the CTRA.


1971 Joe Cervino has been inducted into the New Milford High School, Met League, and New Jersey Coaches halls of fame for baseball, as well as the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2010. Cervino was New Jersey state and Northeast baseball coach of the year in 2011.


1972 Peter S. Burdett was appointed as New Hampshire’s civilian aide to the secretary of the Army on Aug. 1, 2013. Burdett will provide feedback to Army lead- ers about public issues and concerns while providing support to New Hampshire soldiers and their families.


Jeff Cadorette (G’73) emceed the Media Theatre annual gala, celebrating 20 years of profes- sional music theater. Cadorette is a professional auctioneer.


1973 Gene DeFilippo is part of the 2014 National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics


Hall of Fame class. DeFilippo served as the athletic director at Boston College for 15 years, retiring in September 2012. He helped Boston College transition from the Big East Conferences to the Atlantic Coast Conference, as well as oversaw improve- ments to athletic facilities and fields at the college, including the new Yawkey Athletics Center. Prior to his time at BC, DeFilippo served as the athletic director at South Carolina, Spartanburg; associate athletic director at Kentucky, and athletic director at Villanova.


1974 James Drake (G’76) was selected as the 2013 California State High School Athletic Director of the Year.


1975 Steve Cervizzi has joined Eastern Connecticut State University as assistant baseball coach after 15 seasons as assis- tant baseball coach at Trinity College.


Tracy Keller is currently teach- ing earth science and biology at Millbrook High School and coaching the school’s track and cross country team. She helped produce the 100- and 200- meter New York state cham- pion, as well as a 17th place finisher in New York State cross country event.
