Greetings
The Kelowna Yacht Club is now celebrating one of the most significant achievements in its long history – the completion of our new clubhouse.
Although we are a members’ club, we take pride in our openness and inclusion of the pub- lic in many of our activities. For example, we encourage public participation in our Sailing School and educational courses; host the public at our annual Boat and Leisure Show; provide Okanagan children who have special needs and their families with a fun-filled day of pirate fun activities on the water; and have welcomed hundreds of visually-impaired residents to our free Blind Fishing Derby and awards lunch over the past decades.
The Kelowna Yacht Club has now moved into our new clubhouse on Kelowna’s downtown waterfront. If you’ve had the opportunity to see the building as it grew, you’ll know it is simply spectacular!
We know that many residents of Kelowna and the Okanagan are equally impressed and pleased with the project and are also excited to see it completed. Now, in keeping with our long tradition of welcoming our Okanagan neighbours, we are reaching out with this special publication to showcase our club, the features of our new building and our spectacular location. We all share a strong attachment to Kelowna’s waterfront and downtown and, for this reason, we want everyone to enjoy and take pride in this fabulous addition to the Okanagan lakeshore.
The following pages are intended to provide you with some insight into our club and highlight a few of the features of our new building. I invite you to share our excitement and pride in the newest and brightest jewel on the Okanagan waterfront. Mike Terris, Commodore Kelowna Yacht Club
