Our Clubhouse Features
Designing a new clubhouse is a huge task and like everything our club does, we planned it very carefully. After decades in our old clubhouse and careful observation of needs and use, our design teams developed a list of features that would be needed in our new building. We also wanted to make our building as attractive to our neighbours and fellow Okanagan residents as the rest of downtown.
Working in partnership with the City of Kelowna, we developed a list of guidelines that would meet the desire to maintain sightlines of the lake from neigh- bouring sidewalks, streets and buildings. These included preserving the heritage trees in front of our building along Water Street and ensuring our building’s design is a complement to the expanded Stuart Park and extended lakefront promenade.
The result of all this planning is a building that completely meets the needs of city residents, visitors and our members. The significant exterior features are the brick and glass sides on Water Street and the north end, which blend well with the architectural features of the Community Theatre, Law Courts and Delta Grand Hotel. The south end, which overlooks Stuart Park, is a covered open space of a patio on the first floor and deck on the second.
