Our sailors competed in the annual End to End Race and en- joyed dinner overlooking our basin while entertaining mem- bers from other clubs. The Canadian Power and Sail Squadron began instructing their fall series of classes in our classroom and the month was capped by the annual Commodore’s Ball, which featured an outstanding three course dinner and danc- ing to the sounds of an eight-piece band in the Okanagan’s most spectacular setting.
Membership means enjoyment, camaraderie and lots of friends, all at a cost well below any comparable events in the valley. For example, of the examples above, Oktoberfest tickets cost $35 for adults, $15 for children 5-12 and under 4 were free. Both Bike and Brekkie and the KYC Book Club are free, while the most expensive ticket was to the Commodore’s Ball. This is the Club’s most prestigious event, yet tickets cost just $65 for the abso- lutely incredible evening.
Looking to the future, we are preparing our costumes for a great evening of fun, food and live music at the Halloween Spook- tacular Rock and Roll Fundraiser for KYC’s Youth and Education programs. The cost is $10. Further ahead, we know members’ children will be anticipating the annual free Kids Christmas par- ty, with activities and games, lots of fun, food, and gifts from a special visitor. Planning is underway for New Year’s Eve, which is followed by Wassail, a free social occasion where members enjoy appetizers and drinks while catching up on the previous year and planning activities for the new one.
