Owner Phil Collins has been collecting for 30 years and
opened his museum four years ago. He now welcomes about 6,000 visitors a year. He spends much of his time at the museum and is happy to answer questions. He said: “I’m like a kiddie in a sweet shop. I can’t think of
a better way of spending my time.” His early finds were from jumble sales, the local tip and
auction houses but, today, he buys and sells from individuals. A recent customer was Drew Pritchard, from Quest TV’s Salvage Hunters programme. Phil joked: “They were filming for six hours and Drew
bought two trikes. “He also wanted my model shark-nose Ferrari, but even
though he couldn’t afford it in the end, he said he absolutely loved the place.” The Mill Toy and Pedal Car Museum is open every day
mini-models like the Austin J40 and the iconic BMW Isetta bubble car. Others reflect the time and the imagination of their inventors, with cars incorporating bottle tops, ironing boards and miscellaneous materials. There’s also a collection of cooking utensils, typewriters,
dolls’ houses and prams, as well as a large collection of die- cast and tin plate toys.
from 10am to 5pm (last entry 4pm) throughout the summer (up until the first week in September) and every day, except Monday and Friday, until October. The exhibition is under cover, with a tea room offering cakes, sandwiches and ploughman’s lunches.

The venue welcomes group bookings and is suitable for wheelchair users, and has toilet facilities for the disabled.
